Using the AI Assistant

The AI Assistant feature in WhiteBeard News Suite leverages the power of Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, to assist your newsroom with various editing tools. By default, we use the latest version of ChatGPT, but other models (e.g., Claude, Gemini) can be enabled upon request.

  • The AI Assistant suggests improvements but requires human review and approval.
  • It utilizes the content you’ve already uploaded, including titles, text, and images.
  • Available features include title suggestions, summaries, chapeaux, spell checks, social media titles, and photo captions.

You can prompt the AI to:

  • Suggest titles
  • Summarize content to 160 characters
  • Create chapeaux (introductory text)
  • Perform spell checks
  • Generate social media titles (e.g., for Facebook)
  • Describe images for captions

The AI Assistant is available through three main features on article pages:

  1. Stars Icon for text fields such as titles, captions, and descriptive summary.
  2. Stars Icon in the story editor.
  3. Stars Icon on the right side of the Content Editor page.
  4. Translate Icon on the right side of the Content Editor page.

  • If you’re viewing Feeds, click on Start Editing.
  • If you’ve already created an article, simply open it to begin editing.
  • Use the Stars Icon near text fields or the Stars Icon in the story editor to access AI suggestions.

This tool is used to quickly generate content suggestions.

  1. Click on the Stars Icon next to the field (e.g., title, summary).
  2. If a predefined prompt is available, you will immediately get a suggestion from the AI to pick from. Click on it to apply it.
  3. Click on “Try another prompt” if you’re unsatisfied with the result.
  4. Choose a predefined prompt or write your own.
    • Examples:
      • Suggest 3 titles
      • Generate a summary
  5. Click “Continue” to see the AI’s response.
  6. Apply the AI’s suggestion to your content, or modify as needed.
  7. Optionally, save effective prompts to reuse later through the Prompt Manager.

This feature helps you optimize content in the text editor.

  • Full text mode: You can click on Stars Icon to start the AI Assistant in a rich text field.

  • Highlighted text: You can also highlight a portion of the text that you wish to perform an action on. For example, if you want to rewrite a specific paragraph or proofread it alone.

  • Reviews structure and grammar.
  • Converts content into a more polished format.
  • Cleans up wire references (e.g., removing AFP citations).
  • Inserts subheadings every three paragraphs.
  • Adjust the default prompt to better fit your content needs.
  • Write and assign new prompts for specific improvements.
  • Important: Always review AI outputs before publishing.

This tool helps you manage all saved prompts for quick access.

    • Click on any Stars Icon, then click Try another prompt, then select Manage Saved Prompts.
    • Alternatively, you can access the Prompt Manager from the menu. Go to Administration in the menu, then find Publisher Configuration, then click on Stars Icon (AI Assistant).
  1. Review, edit, or delete prompts from the list.
    • Includes default prompts, auto-saved prompts, and custom prompts.
  2. Assign prompts to specific fields (e.g., title, summary, teaser).
  • Assign prompts to appropriate fields to ensure accuracy.
  • Regularly delete unused prompts to keep the system efficient.
  • Use simple and direct language in prompts for better AI performance.
  • Provide examples as much as possible.
