Using the Voice Editor
Overview
Section titled “Overview”News Suite comes with a voice editor allowing you to create markup code for text-to-speech generators, such as ElevenLabs or AWS.
The editor is essentially a Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) editor with additional optional features adapted to AWS Poly.
How to Enable
Section titled “How to Enable”Adding a Voice Platform
Section titled “Adding a Voice Platform”As a one-time setup, an administrator must configure a voice platform:
- Navigate to Administration → Publisher Configuration
- Scroll to the Distribution Platforms section
- Click the Create new platform button
- Set the Editing toolbar option to Voice (SSML)
- Configure other platform settings as needed
- Save the platform
How to use
Section titled “How to use”In the Content’s Editor tab, click on the platform dropdown (next to the Content Status dropdown), and choose the voice-enabled platform. Your administrator picks a name for it, typically Audio.
Once selected, the text editor switches to a voice editor.
You can highlight a portion of the text and click on the Play icon to listen to it. When done, click on the Cloud Download icon to generate a final audio file and attach it to your content.
Automatic Voice or Podcast Generation
Section titled “Automatic Voice or Podcast Generation”You can set up an automation that automatically creates audio for every published article. This is ideal for creating podcasts or providing audio versions of your content without manual intervention.
Setting Up the Automation
Section titled “Setting Up the Automation”-
Navigate to Automations: Go to Administration → Revenue Configuration → Automations

Create a New Automation: Click on the Create an automation button

Set the Trigger:
- Set the trigger to “Content published”
- Click Next step

Configure Conditions: Set your conditions to specify which content should generate audio, such as:
- Publication: Select specific publications
- Category: Choose relevant categories
- Add any other filters to target the right content

Add the Text-to-Speech Action:
- Click on Add action
- Choose “Create text to speech” from the action list
- In the popup, pick your desired voice
- Save the action

Save the Automation:
- Click Update automation in the top right corner
- Your automation is now active
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”Once the automation is set up:
- Every time an article matching your conditions is published, the system automatically generates an audio version
- The newly created audio file is added as an attachment to the article
- The audio is immediately available to your readers without any manual intervention
This automated workflow is perfect for creating consistent podcast feeds or providing accessibility features across your content.
